Torque

Hello, survivors!

Today we would like to tell you about (and give an opportunity to test) the changes that are planned to be implemented in the foreseeable future. The changes are highly important and in one way or another will affect everyone who assembles cars with their own hands. Let’s figure out together what exactly is planned to be changed, and why these changes are going to be positive.

We remind you that all the new features described in this news are not final and may be changed before they are introduced into the game or may not make it into the game at all.

Why are we doing this?

Throughout most of Crossout’s existence, we have often encountered questions, suggestions, and problems from players related to building their armoured vehicle and controlling it on the battlefield:

  • often it might not have been completely clear how to assemble the most efficient armoured car and how many of this or that kind of chassis can be installed without negative consequences;
  • we have received many suggestions to rework the system in favor of a more transparent and understandable one. In particular, it was proposed to introduce a specific and understandable parameter that would be displayed in the parameters tab and that would directly expended by the chassis, which would simplify the process of assembling the vehicle for both experienced and new survivors;
  • at the same time, we often encountered suggestions to increase the overall vehicle dynamics (especially at high PS levels). We understand that players often use the hovers because of their mobility. Thanks to the changes described below, the rest of the chassis are now less inert, their surface grip has been improved. This should have a positive impact on the experience of controlling the vehicles with the “ground” chassis;
  • in addition, quite often you have asked us to distinguish the wheels more clearly between each other, to make each wheel unique and useful in its own way.

When we were working on the tested changes, we tried to take into account all this feedback.

We understand that these changes will require rebuilding of some armoured vehicles, but we tried to implement the changes in such a way that they affect the minimum possible number of vehicles. This is a necessary step in order to implement the suggestions mentioned above.

So what has changed?

Tonnage

  • Now the tonnage is gained only at the expense of chassis and some engines. Cabins no longer affect the overall tonnage of the vehicle, but still restrict the weight limit of the vehicle.
  • Most chassis have received a significant increase in the tonnage that they give to the car.

Torque

  • The torque is a new parameter of the cabin, which is a kind of “energy” for the chassis.
  • You can only install the chassis until you have reached the limit of the torque parameter for your vehicle, or until there are not enough “extra” torque points to install another chassis. You also won’t be able to install additional chassis if you have depleted the total parts limit for the vehicle (chassis are still counted in the total part limit).
  • Cabin torque is increased by the engine and the cabin fuse.

Other changes in chassis

  • The parameters of most chassis have been revised in order to better highlight their role in the game. For example: the chassis of “special” rarity now more clearly differ from the “rare” chassis, as you can see on the test server.
  • Wheel grip with different surfaces has been improved. The behavior of the wheels has become more predictable, the handling at high speeds should improve.

Your opinion regarding these test changes is very important to us. Please do not forget to share your thoughts, suggestions and comments in a special thread after the test (the thread will be open at the end of the first testing window).

On the test server we are giving away all cabins (starting with rare ones), with certain, most important in the context of changes, epic chassis with upgrade stabilizers, as well as already fused epic engines. In case of the storage being full, you can use the storage expansions, which are also included in the giveaway.

These are not all the changes that are planned to be implemented in the future. We also plan to revise the perks of the engines so that they have a greater impact on the efficiency of the used chassis. These changes are not yet available on the test server.

How to get to the test server?

If you have already participated in testing on a special server, then it will be enough to start the Launcher from the folder with the test client and wait for the update to complete.

  • Create a new folder for the game on your hard drive.
  • Download the Launcher from this link. The file name should not contain numbers indicating that the file is a duplicate. Please note that you should launch the file that does not contain any digits (1), (2), etc. in its name. If, when starting the installed launcher, you get to the live game servers, you need to delete all downloaded launchers from the download folder and try again.
  • Start the Launcher and install the game to the folder you created (for example: D:\Public test\Crossout).
  • After the installation is complete, start the Launcher and enter the game with your username and password.
  • The whole progress of your main account will be transferred to the main server (including parts in storage and levels of reputation in factions).
  • After logging into the server, to transfer progress from your account, press the “Esc” key and select “Copy account data”.
  • Please note the schedule of the test server:
    • Friday, May 14, 2021: from 13:00 to 19:00 (GMT time)
    • Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 13:00 to 19:00 (GMT time)
    • Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 13:00 to 19:00 (GMT time)
  • Any progress you make on the test server will not be transferred to the live game servers (INCLUDING ATTEMPTS TO BUY PACKS).

After testing the changes, we invite you to leave your constructive feedback on the planned rework in THIS THREAD (it will open a bit later after the launch of the test server).

You can report all issues found on the test server here.

The public test server is intended only for testing of the upcoming update, and may not accommodate all players without exception. However, absolutely anyone can join the server, as long as there are free spots.
