It's hard to recognize the heart of a factory range for military equipment in an old hangar sheltered by sand and burnt by the sun. It was a long time ago. Many moons ago. But even then most of the time this place was eerily silent. The powers that be came every few moons when a newborn prototype of a vehicle or weapon was ready to take its first breath of electrified air. The outdoor arena was used to recreate the conditions of a real battle. Guns were shot and the bullet range was assessed right next door. On the racetrack, newborn monsters jumped from springboards and slid along ramps during ride trials. And the rest of the time... Silence. No one wanted to linger at the test site after the trial.
The madness that engulfed the cities during the outbreak of crossout could not get so far into the uninhabited land. Therefore, neither the test site nor those who were lucky enough to seal the gigantic door from the inside suffered. Warehouses were filled with food, tanks — with fuel, arsenal rooms — with ammo. As if someone was preparing to meet the end of the world. With comfort.
This saved the lives of several dozen Waderkvarn employees who were on duty in the hangar that fateful day. Those who remained outside were less fortunate. And when dozens of hands beat upon the walls and tens of voices asked to let them in — silence was the answer.
When the gates of the hangar swung open again, its inhabitants were ready to play by the rules of the new world. The horsemen began their bloody harvest, inviting the apocalypse. Their influence quickly sprung up like mushrooms in the rain and they started a gang of the most desperate thugs among the survivors. Survivors often flock to the test site, but only the best of them are allowed to move to the hangar and enjoy all its benefits.
